How it works
You give a multiset of letters—the same idea as the tiles in front of you. The tool compares that letter inventory to a large dictionary. A word is kept only if every letter it needs is available in your pool (no using a letter twice unless you typed it twice).
That is much faster than generating every possible scramble. Filters run on the same pass: minimum and maximum word length, an optional required first letter, and an optional letter that must appear at least once in the word.
Results are grouped by word length, with longer groups listed first. Within a length, words are sorted alphabetically so you can scan quickly.
Scrabble, crosswords, and daily word puzzles
In Scrabble and similar board games, you often want every legal play from seven letters, or every word that fits a hook on the board. Use starts with when a square fixes the first letter, and contains when you must cover a vowel or a rare consonant already on the rack.
For crossword fills, raise the minimum length to match blank squares. For five- or six-letter daily puzzles, cap the maximum length and look at the longest matches first—those groups appear at the top of the list.
This page is a study and planning aid. It uses a tournament-style lexicon (valid in ENABLE-family lists), not a general-purpose prose dictionary, so some obscure two-letter entries appear alongside familiar words.
FAQ
- Why fifteen letters? Fifteen covers a full Scrabble rack plus a few extras while keeping search instant on typical phones.
- Are blank tiles supported? Not as wildcards—only the letters you type count. Type extra vowels if you are holding multiple blanks as specific letters.
- Is my rack sent to a server? No. After the dictionary file downloads once, matching runs locally. See Privacy.
- Why is a word missing? Proper nouns, slang, and words outside the ENABLE-style list are excluded by design.
- Can I use this offline? The full word list is built into the page (or loaded from
words.txtif you deploy that file too).
